City London

I worked in the City for less than a year. What an exciting, maddening, scream-inducing, exhilarating, brain-titillating experience!

Description

When you walk through the City, the history of London really slaps you in the face. It’s an almost surreal experience seeing all those glass buildings reaching to the sky right amidst stone gargoyles on grand old buildings, centuries old and begging you to picture horses and carriages, top hat and tails… After working in the City I can safely say I both love it and hate it. It’s the seat of so much that I love and so much that I loathe, it’s almost farcical!

This piece is my attempt to convey the energy of the City – its ambition, its drive, its history, its intelligence, its people who succumb to the corporate beast, and those who try to straddle humanity and the need for excessive success.

This is City London – the new and the old.
