Description

It was supposed to be called Home and it was supposed to be warm and fuzzy and welcoming but somewhere along the line this abstract mixed media dipped into my head, saw my truth, and splashed it on the canvas for me to really see. The traditional idea of ‘Home’ is unattainable for most people.

It might have been the process of collecting the images for Home that caused the somewhat political shift to Home Truth. I found some stunning images that just resonated with me – Home being the dream I had at age 16 that seems so far out of reach.

By now you’ve guessed that I live in a rented property with my little family, but what about people who struggle to attain even that?

At the other end there are those who own several homes of immense luxury. I’m happy for them but it doesn’t stop me from looking at the giant gap between homes in the lap of luxury and homes made wherever someone can find a flat surface.

I hope to get to the point financially where owning my own home is an easily affordable given. In the meantime, the canvas bears the brunt of all those thoughts that swirl around in my head and need a place to land when they fall out.
